TCN cancels maintenance exercise at Enugu transmission substation

The MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL), a subsidiary of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC), has announced the cancellation of the 10-day planned power outage earlier scheduled to take place in parts of the state.

On October 21, the distribution company announced a planned power outage in parts of the state for 10 days.

The MEDL said the outage would commence on October 22 and end on October 31, between 9 am and 5 pm.

Providing updates in a statement signed by Emeka Ezeh, MainPower’s head of communications, the company said the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) cancelled the exercise due to unforeseen technical constraints.

“The Mainpower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) wishes to inform her esteemed customers in parts of Enugu that the planned outage which was originally scheduled from Wednesday, October 22, 2025, to Friday, October 31, 2025 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m, has been cancelled,” the statement reads.

“The cancellation of the exercise as communicated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is due to unforeseen technical constraints.

“The 33KV feeders earlier scheduled for the outage on rotational basis are: Kingsway Lines 1& 2, Emene Industrial Lines 1&2, Thinkers Corner, Trans-Ekulu, Ugwuogo, and Ituku Ozalla.”

Ezeh said a new schedule for the planned maintenance will be communicated to customers once it is confirmed.

The company apologised for any inconvenience the change may have caused and appreciated its customers for their patience and understanding.
