The management of the Nigerian Breweries Plc has restated its commitment to Team Nigeria as a major sponsor of the country’s contingent to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Sade Morgan, corporate affairs director of the company, said the NB’s support was in continuation to its long standing relationship with the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC).
She spoke at a state house dinner held at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja in honour of Thomas Bach, the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), who visited the country recently.
“As a major partner with the NOC and with a long history of supporting projects like this, we are committed to showing our commitment to the growth of Nigerian sports,” she said.
She also said that NB would support Team Nigeria with two of its leading brands, Amstel Malta and Star Lager.
“Amstel Malta as the official Malt drink for Nigerian contingent and Star Lager as the official lager,” she added.
Olabanji Olabanjo, secretary general of the NOC, also expressed his excitement over the partnership.
“We are excited to work with the sponsor to bring this partnership to life for our athletes and the teeming fans,” he said.
Emmanuel Oriakhi, marketing director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, said: “We are thrilled to be able to bring people together to enjoy and celebrate Team Nigeria on their journey to Tokyo 2020 where we believe in our talented athletes will shine.”
Bach, who recently inaugurated the secretariat of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) in Abuja, was also taken on a tour of the Moshood Abiola Stadium where he interacted with patrons, olympians, NOC partners as well as current and past Olympic scholarship holders.
Yemi Osinbajo, vice-president; Sunday Dare, minister of youth and sports development; and Kolawole Jamodu, chairman, Nigerian Breweries Plc, were among top dignitaries that attended the dinner.
