The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has partnered with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to track its projects across institutions in the country.
Sonny Echono, TETFund’s executive secretary, announced this when he met with the leadership of the association in Abuja on Monday.
At the meeting, Echono also presented a 30-seater bus to the association to “ease their movement”.
He said the collaboration became imperative to enable TETFund get first-hand information on erring contractors and ensure transparency in the system.
Echono added that the meeting was in continuation of TETFund’s dialogue with stakeholders in the education sector.
“We want to be able to identify on each campus a contact person that will be able to checkmate our projects so that we can have a first hand information, even before sending our team there,” he said.
“We are doing several engagement with other stakeholders. So, going forward, this will make our monitoring process more transparent.”
In his remark, Usman Barambu, NANS president, assured that the association will monitor TETFund projects across campuses to ensure they are properly executed by contractors handling them.
NANS also commended the body for donating the 30-seater bus to the association.
“We are here to thank you and encourage the entire management to do more and more for Nigerian students,” he said.
