You should probably check out @omobabafalana on Twitter; but before you do, be ready to drop a few tears as a result of the outpouring of love coming the Nigerian soldier’s way.

Omobaba Falana is one of the soldiers fighting Boko Haram in the north-east.

He announced on Twitter that Friday was his birthday, and Nigerians flooded his timeline with prayers and appreciation for his sacrifice to the country.

In the tweet, the soldier sought prayers for himself and his colleagues in the battlefield.

“It’s my birthday today, if you see this… Please say a prayer for me and all our troops,” he wrote.

Not long after he tweeted, tributes started to pour in. And more than 24 hours after, the tweet has generated about 50,000 interactions.

While some Nigerians prayed that no harm should befall him and other soldiers, others thanked him for risking his life to keep the country safe from insurgents.

A Twitter user wrote: “Happy birthday. Wishing you a great and amazing life. Thank you for putting your life on the line for us. We would continue to make demands for you to be given strategic leadership, the right arms and your welfare made a priority.”
