There’s a cabal in government but I’m not a member, says el-Rufai
Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, has said he’s not a member of the cabal in the presidency because he’s preoccupied with the affairs of his state.
According to el-Rufai, there’s bound to be a cabal in every government and/or institution.
He said the key issue is “whether the cabal is positive or negative” in nature.
The governor made this known on Thursday while speaking with journalists in Lagos, THISDAY reports.
El-Rufai said it was natural for leaders to have a few people around them whom they trust enough to confide in and seek advice from.
Such persons, he said, are members of the cabal.
He said: “There’s always a cabal. In every government or institution, there are always two or three people you can trust with whom you take decisions. So, there’s always a cabal.”
“But the issue is whether the cabal is a positive or negative one. However, whether I am a member of the cabal, the answer is no. My primary assignment is Kaduna.”
The Kaduna governor is believed to be a close associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, leading to speculation that he may be a member of his inner circle, otherwise known as the cabal.
