The Ondo state police command has read the riot act to “political elements bent on disrupting the peace of the state”.

Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the police public relations officer in Ondo, issued a statement on the command’s position in Akure.

Odunlami-Omisanya said the police is aware that some persons are plotting to cause mayhem in the state.

“Through our intelligence reports, some political elements are bent on disrupting the peace of the state through concerted efforts and mobilisation of unsuspecting youths,” she said.

“Specific reports revealed that sponsors seek to cause mayhem with a view to embarrassing the state for certain selfish ends.

“The state police command, therefore, warns such elements within the state to retrace their steps or be made to face the wrath of the law.”

The police added that it would ensure the safety of all law abiding Ondo residents during the Christmas season.
