A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ganduje ward, Dawakin Tofa LGA of Kano state, has rubbished the suspension of Abdullahi Ganduje by another camp, describing the perpetrators as “impostors”.

On Sunday, a faction of the APC ward executives in Ganduje ward announced the suspension of the APC national chairman.

Speaking with journalists, Ja’afar Ganduje, secretary of the faction, alleged that Ganduje engaged in anti-party activities.

The secretary, who spoke on behalf of 11 other executive members, said the faction is the authentic leadership of the APC in Ganduje ward.

However, in a statement on Sunday, the faction loyal to the APC national chairman claimed that the leader of the other group is a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who contested a councilorship seat in the state.

“To the best of our knowledge, as executive members of Ganduje ward of the APC, there was no new election of new leadership of our party. We remain the same executives of the ward,” the statement reads.

The statement was jointly signed by
Ahmed Ganduje and Usaini Jibrinz, chairman and secretary of Ganduje ward, respectively.

The faction called on APC national leadership to facilitate the arrest of those parading themselves as ward leaders for impersonation and attempt to disrupt the party.

The faction alleged that the other group used “a fake or uncertified headed paper on which they drew a list of non-existing party executives”.

CONFUSION IN GANDUJE WARD

On April 15, a faction of the ward executives suspended Ganduje over corruption allegations.

The initial suspension was announced by Halliru Gwanzo, legal adviser of the ward, during a briefing with journalists in Kano.

Subsequently, the state working committee of the APC in Kano nullified the suspension of Ganduje and sanctioned the ward executives.

A few days later, some APC leaders in Ganduje ward led by Ahmed Ganduje paid a solidarity visit to the national chairman of the ruling party in Abuja.

The development means that there are three factions in APC in Ganduje ward.

On April 17, the Kano state high court affirmed the suspension of Ganduje by the ward executives.

The court, while granting an ex parte order, also restrained the former governor from parading himself as a member of the APC.

Twenty-four hours later, a federal high court in Kano ordered that the suspension of Ganduje should be halted.
