‘They’ve improved lives’ – north-east APC endorses Tinubu/Shettima ticket for 2027

The north-east chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for the 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement came during the north-east APC consultative meeting held in Gombe on Sunday.

Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, Mai-Mala Buni of Yobe, and Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, along with thousands of party members, attended the meeting.

The forum praised Tinubu and Shettima for their transformative leadership under the renewed hope agenda.

In his speech, Zulum highlighted the achievements of the Tinubu administration over the past two years, particularly in health, education, youth and women empowerment, revenue generation, and improving citizens’ lives.

He urged all Nigerians to support a ticket that promises unity, progress, and hope for the country.

Other prominent APC figures present at the meeting included Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of APC, and Ali Bukar, the deputy national chairman.

Earlier, the stakeholders’ summit descended into chaos after some speakers endorsed Tinubu for a second term without mentioning Shettima.

The incident occurred during speeches by top party officials, beginning with Mustapha Salihu, APC national vice-chairman (north-east), who endorsed Tinubu as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

However, his failure to acknowledge Shettima sparked an immediate backlash from attendees.

Delegates, visibly angered by the omission, began shouting and disrupting the meeting, with some issuing threats of violence.

Salihu was swiftly escorted out by security operatives as tensions flared.

Dalori later addressed the crowd and endorsed both Tinubu and Shettima for second term.
