Okechukwu Nnodim, a reporter with PUNCH Newspaper, who was abducted in his Abuja home has regained freedom after three days.

Nnodim who was kidnapped on Wednesday night rejoined his family on Saturday night.

Punch reports that Nnodim confirmed his freedom on telephone saying ““I am back home. I’m back.”

In the same development, Nnodim’s wife also confirmed that he has rejoined his family.

“My husband is back. I am happy. I thank you all for the support. God bless you all,” the wife said.

The two neighbours also abducted alongside Nnodim have also regained their freedom.

It was reported that a four-man gang was said to have gained access to Nnodim’s residence located at Kubwa, a suburb in the federal capital territory (FCT), around 11pm on Wednesday night.

Shortly after scaling the fence to gain access into the house, the abductors shot in the air to scare people away.

They demanded money from Nnodim and when he could not provide any, the kidnappers took him away.

They also took away two children of the reporter’s neighbour who is a widow.

Hours after the abduction, a source said the kidnappers contacted the reporter’s sister living in Lagos and demanded N10million as ransom.

It is not known whether the ransom was paid.
