‘Three farmers killed’ as gunmen attack Edo community

Gunmen suspected to be herders have reportedly killed three farmers in Sobe community, Owan west LGA of Edo state.

Chidi Nwabuzor, police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the development on Wednesday.

NAN reports that the divisional police officer in the community reported the attack to the state command.

Nwabuzor said the gunmen invaded a farm settlement in the community and killed the farmers.

He said the attackers abandoned the bodies of the farmers at the farm area.

The bodies of the deceased identified as John Udo, Lucky Euze, and Pastor Ogbe Unuoha, have been recovered and deposited in a mortuary.

The police spokesperson assured that the case was under investigation and the perpetrators would be arrested and prosecuted.

In another development, the police command apprehended a suspected kidnapper at Okada junction in Ovia north-east LGA of the state.

The 35-year-old suspect was said to have been nabbed by the rapid response and intelligence unit of the command on March 28.

The police operatives recovered a local cut-to-size gun from the suspect.
