Residents were thrown into panic as an explosion rocked a drinking joint in the Dorowa area of Taraba state.

Confirming the incident to TheCable on Monday, Abdullahi Usman, police spokesperson in the state, said the explosion occurred at about 9 pm on Sunday.

Usman said three women sustained injuries during the blast and have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

“Yes, it happened on the 14th around 900hrs yesterday. We had three women that sustained injuries, two of them sustained light injuries such as bruises,” he said.

“The other one had a fracture in her leg. The two women were treated at the Federal Medical Centre in Jalingo and the other one who sustained a fracture on her left leg was admitted and currently receiving treatment at the same health facility.

“We have our intelligence, our officers have been deployed within the axis to go round and get more information so that it can lead to and unravel the persons involved in the blast. We also have intense patrol, taking that area to be a hot spot, patrols are ongoing day and night, since yesterday.

“We have built back the confidence of the people and have urged them to go about their normal business. The command is working to ensure that such a thing will not happen again.”
