Three killed as police repel attack on station in Anambra

Gunmen have attacked Awada police station in Onitsha, Anambra state.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday.

A statement by Charles Aburime, spokesman of Charles Soludo, the governor, said three of the attackers were killed in a gun duel with the police officers.

He said two AK 47 guns were recovered with the vehicles used by the gunmen.

The incident comes less than 24 hours after six persons were killed during an attack on 3-3 police divisional headquarters, Nkwelle-Ezunaka in the Oyi LGA of the state.

A police officer was wounded in the attack while an office in the division and a patrol vehicle were razed.

On Friday, three police officers were killed in an attack on a police station in Ogidi, Idemili north LGA of Anambra.
