‘Three terrorists’ killed as troops raid hideouts in Borno, Katsina
Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed three suspected terrorists during a raid on the hideouts of Boko Haram insurgents and fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno and Katsina states.
A statement on Wednesday said the troops, while on a clearance operation in Gwoza LGA of Borno, killed one terrorist.
“Nigerian Army troops deployed for counter-terrorism operations in the North East in conjunction with Hybrid Forces on Wednesday 26 March 2024 neutralized one terrorist and recovered arms, ammunition and rustled cattle during a clearance operation on identified Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province enclaves within Gori general area in Gwoza LGA of Borno state,” the statement reads.
“In a fierce firefight, the troops successfully overpowered and, neutralized one terrorist, rescued several rustled cattle and recovered arms and ammunition from the terrorists.
“The recovered arms included 2 AK-47 rifles, 38 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, AK-47 Magazines, one Improvised Explosive Device and one motorcycle.”
During another operation in Katsina, the troops killed two terrorists when they engaged the insurgents in a gun battle at the Garin Rinji area of Batsari LGA.
The troops also recovered two motorcycles and 25 rustled livestock during the operation.
