Timi Frank, former deputy publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says the party ought to suspend John Oyegun, the national chairman, and not him.

The ruling party announced his suspension last week, citing acts of indiscipline as its reason.

Frank was barred to officially speak on behalf of the party after Lai Mohammed, the immediate past spokesman, was appointed a minister.

He also has repeatedly called for the resignation of Oyegun.

But addressing journalists on Tuesday, Frank said he had filed a legal action to challenge his suspension.

He explained that he took the action after all the moves he made to resolve the issue internally yielded no result.

“I tried to resolve this crisis internally. I’ve said it before that I was going to seek legal redress. That step has been taken,” he said.

“I did everything possible to resolve the crisis but there was no response from Oyegun. But I’ve approached the court to seek legal redress.

“If I can write two letters and there was no response, I have no other option than to take my case to the judiciary and I believe by the grace of God, I’ll be vindicated.

“This is the only step I can take to fight for my fundamental human right. Now that this matter is before the court, I still remain the acting publicity secretary of the party until court says otherwise. If there’s anybody to be suspended from APC, it should be Oyegun not me.”
