President Bola Tinubu has appointed Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house of representatives, to chair a reconciliation committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state.
Abbas is expected to resolve the internal wrangling in the party’s Bauchi state chapter.
Members of the committee include Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe; Yakubu Dogara, former speaker of the house of representatives; Abdullahi Gumel, Tinubu’s assistant on national assembly matters (senate); and Jake Dan-Azumi, Abbas’ chief of staff, among others.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Musa Krishi, media adviser to Abbas, said the committee held its inaugural meeting in Abuja on July 31.

“After an exhaustive deliberation on the origin of the crisis, which dates back to the party’s 2015 primaries in the state, the meeting resolved to embark on a fact-finding assignment by meeting with the relevant stakeholders,” the statement reads.
Some of the stakeholders present at the meeting included Mohammed Abubakar and Isa Yuguda, former governors of Bauchi; Ali Pate, minister of health; Abdulmalik Mahmood, Abubakar Maikafi, Tijjani Ali, Yahaya Miya, Ibrahim Hassan, and Sanusi Ileli.
Abbas said the committee have one month to complete its assignment and present its report to the president.
