President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Adamu Laka, a major general, as the coordinator of the national counter-terrorism centre.

The national counter-terrorism centre is under the supervision of the office of the national security adviser (ONSA).

In a statement on Tuesday, Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesperson, said the newly appointed coordinator is expected to “remove security threats through pre-emptive, proactive, and diligent counter-terrorism coordination”.

“General Laka served in various capacities in the North-East, Nigeria, where he deployed tactical means to degrade terrorist groups,” the statement reads.
