President Bola Tinubu has appointed Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCorp) as the lead arranger and developer of Evergreen City, Nigeria’s green industrial zone.

In a statement on Sunday, Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, said InfraCorp will be responsible for the selection of partners and consultants to undertake critical development activities, including project design, environmental impact assessments, feasibility studies, financial modelling, and market engagement.

Also, it will raise private funding for the development of the city and constituent projects, coordinate with partners, development institutions, and other providers of capital and technical assistance, as well as report to the supervisory presidential steering committee on project evergreen.

Tinubu also approved the establishment of the presidential steering committee on project Evergreen — the supervisory technical working group — to oversee the pioneering endeavour.

The presidential steering committee are Ngelale — the special presidential envoy on climate action – who will serve as chairman and Lolade Abiola, United Nations Sustainable Energy for All (UN SE4ALL), will serve as secretary.

  • Lazarus Angbazo (chief executive officer (CEO), InfraCorp) – member
  • Salisu Dahiru (CEO, National Council on Climate Change (NCCC)) – member
  • Aminu Umar-Sadiq (CEO, Nigeria’s Sovereign Wealth Fund (NSIA)) – member
  • Khalil Halilu (CEO, National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI)) – member
  • Abba Abubabkar Aliyu (CEO, Rural Electrification Agency (REA)) – member
  • Fatima Shinkafi (CEO, Solid Minerals Development Fund (SMDF)) – member
  • Uzoma Nwagba (CEO, Consumer Credit Corporation (CrediCorp)) – member
  • Bala Bello (deputy governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)) – member
  • Teni Majekodunmi (NCCC) – member
  • Nana Maidugu (NSIA) – member
  • Michael Ivenso (NCCC) – member
  • Suleiman Yusuf (Blue Camel Energy) – member
  • Chidi Ajaere (Jet EV) – member

Ngelale said Tinubu expects absolute dedication and professionalism to drive the project with the clear objective of making Nigeria the leading manufacturing hub in Africa for renewable energy technologies, green solutions, and climate-adaptation technologies for the maximum benefit of Nigerians and Africans at large.
