President Bola Tinubu has reassured christians in the northern region of the country of his commitment to fairness and national unity.
Speaking during a visit to Jos, Plateau state capital, where he also paid tribute to Nana Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Tinubu assured the Christian communities of his administration’s dedication to ensuring equitable treatment across all faiths.
In a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s media aide, Tinubu urged religious leaders to trust his administration, emphasising their shared responsibility to manage religious matters for the nation’s benefit.
The president reiterated his government’s resolve to tackle insecurity, particularly terrorism, banditry, and farmer-herder conflicts.

“I have a mission to unite this country, ensure its prosperity, and we are making progress,” Tinubu said.
“We are defeating bandits, and we will defeat them. We will deal with them and combat the farmers-herders clashes.”
Tinubu said efforts are underway to revitalise the economy for the benefit of all Nigerians.

Amos Mohzo, president and spiritual leader of Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), thanked Tinubu for his support for northern Christians, citing key appointments such as George Akume as secretary to the government of the federation and Nantawe Yilwatda as national chairman of the ruling party.
Mohzo called on the president to assist victims of conflict in Benue and facilitate the safe return of displaced Christian communities from insurgency-affected areas in Borno and Adamawa.
