Buhari
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday paid glowing tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari during a special federal executive council (FEC) meeting held in his honour on Thursday.
Buhari died on Sunday in a clinic in London, following a prolonged illness. He was buried at his residence in Daura, Katsina state, on Tuesday.
Tinubu described the late Buhari as a man whose true greatness was revealed in the quiet and unadorned moments of his private life.
He said Buhari’s legacy will be debated, but his incorruptible standard will not be forgotten.

“His record will be debated, as all legacies are, but the character he brought to public life, the moral force he carried, and the incorruptible standard he represented will not be forgotten,” he said.
Tinubu said the late former president was “first among soldiers in war, first among citizens in peace, and first, without ambition or flattery, in the hearts of his fellow citizens.”
He described Buhari’s qualities as “pious without show, just without cruelty, humane without sentimentality, temperate without coldness, and sincere without guile.”

“His life was a rebuke to vice and a refuge for virtue,” Tinubu said, adding that the purity of Buhari’s private character gave radiance to the discipline and integrity of his public service.
Tinubu said in death, Buhari maintained the serenity that defined his life—a quiet submission to the will of God without complaint.
“Such was the man Nigeria has lost. Such was the man for whom our nation now mourns,” the president said.
He said it was a profound honour for him, alongside Vice-President Kashim Shettima, to lead Buhari’s funeral procession to Daura and witness his burial in the dignified manner befitting a great and noble leader.
