President Bola Tinubu has called for unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians for the country’s overall development.

Tinubu spoke at the National Mosque, Abuja, during a special Jumaat prayer organised to mark Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary.

Represented by Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, the president said Nigeria can only achieve the dreams of its founding fathers when citizens live in peace and work together.

“Differences will always exist. But the president’s message is one of hope, unity, and togetherness,” Idris said.

“All Nigerians must imbibe these values so that, collectively, we can achieve the progress and prosperity that Mr President has promised since assuming office.”

He said the country is undergoing transformation, noting that the current administration is making steady progress in addressing the various challenges facing the country.

He urged Nigerians to be patient, noting that efforts are ongoing to turn around the nation’s fortunes.

While congratulating citizens on the anniversary, the minister quoted the president as appealing to Nigerians to continue to pray for the country and its leaders.

Citing the theme of the anniversary, “Nigeria at 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation”, Idris said the president urged all Nigerians, regardless of ethnic, religious, political or social affiliations, to unite in building the country.

He cited the administration’s achievements in security, agriculture, the economy and other sectors, adding that more progress would be made if Nigerians worked “hand in hand”.

Mohammed Kyari, minister of agriculture and rural development, who attended the prayer, said Nigeria is on the path to recovering its lost glory among nations.
