President Bola Tinubu has launched the NINAuth app to strengthen Nigeria’s digital identity system and improve data verification across government institutions.
Speaking on Thursday at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu said the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to building a credible, secure and verifiable identity management system, describing it as key to national development.
The president said all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) would soon adopt the app for staff and citizen data verification, adding that technology is central to the government’s drive for efficiency, transparency and accountability.
“Today’s launch of the NIMC NINAuth app heralds a remarkable day in our nation’s digital public infrastructure journey,” Tinubu said.

“This innovation marks another milestone in our pursuit of a digitally empowered Nigeria. Under the renewed hope agenda, we are modernising digital infrastructure to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure that every Nigerian has access to essential services without the frustration of bureaucratic delays.”
He said the app would position Nigeria among the world’s technologically advanced nations, enabling seamless and inclusive access to public and private services while ensuring strong data protection and national security.
Tinubu urged citizens to embrace the new technology, noting that a credible identity system supports financial inclusion, social welfare delivery, and accurate data for planning and national security.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, minister of interior, said the app reflects Tinubu’s resolve to strengthen governance and national security through innovation.
Abisoye Coker-Odusote, NIMC’s director-general, said the app would eliminate multiple data ownership and provide real-time verification for government and businesses.
She added that NIMC has enrolled 126.7 million Nigerians so far, including 25 million registered in the last two years, and now records about 1.3 million verification requests daily.
