Ovie Omo-Agege, a former deputy president of the senate, says President Bola Tinubu has the capacity to lead Nigeria to prosperity.

In a statement issued by Sunny Areh, his media adviser, Omo-Agege said Tinubu’s success in resolving the diplomatic dispute between Nigeria and the UAE demonstrates his ability to revitalise the nation’s economy.

“It takes a bold vision and aggressive diplomacy to revive the important economic relationship between both countries which will ultimately see the restoration of direct flights and the lifting of the visa ban,” Omo-Agege was quoted as saying.

He added that economic diplomacy with other countries is sacrosanct to putting Nigeria’s economy on the path of growth.

“We need to harness the opportunities inherent in our relationship with major economic centres,” he said.

“That is why President Tinubu’s initiative and success recorded with his meeting with the leadership of the UAE is commendable.

“It reinforces my confidence and belief in the President that he can lead Nigeria out of the present economic doldrum to the path of prosperity.”

Omo-Agege said he believes Nigerians will find the renewed ties with UAE as “an affirmation that they made the right choice in voting him as our President”.

The former lawmaker said rebuilding the nation’s economy is a “huge” task that requires getting the private sector and the international business community “to buy into the project”.

He added that the business community has confidence in Tinubu’s economic policies and that Nigeria is on track to becoming a major investment destination.
