President Bola Tinubu says there are plans to expand food production through aggressive mechanisms in the country.

According to a statement issued by Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson, Tinubu spoke on Sunday when he received a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement led by Muhammad Mahe Niass, at the presidential villa in Abuja.

The president said his administration would transform agriculture to make Nigeria self-sufficient in food production and exportation.

He also said he would support initiatives focused on providing ease to hajj pilgrims in the country.

He said his plans on boosting agriculture would be achieved through “expansion of farmlands, the provision of low-interest loans to farmers, and significant investments in irrigation infrastructure.”

“We are dedicated to equipping hospitals with modern equipment, providing healthcare professionals with training, and ensuring social welfare for every citizen, including comprehensive health insurance coverage,” the statement reads.

“Nigeria will become a net exporter of food. We are bringing thousands of tractors. Food production will be greatly expanded through aggressive mechanization.

“We must be productive as a people. That is the Sunnah and the principles I grew up understanding.”

The president expressed appreciation to the Global Tijaniyya Movement for their prayers and support for the nation.

He stressed that the partnership between political and religious leaders is important to promote unity in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Niass, commended Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s peace, progress, and stability.

He expressed confidence in the president’s leadership and conveyed the support and prayers of members of the Global Tijaniyya Movement to the Nigerian leader.
