Tinubu appoints three NUPRC executive commissioners

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of three new executive commissioners for the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

According to a statement on Tuesday by Ajuri Ngelale, the president also approved the redeployment of one current executive commissioner, pending their confirmation by the senate.

The nominees include:

(1) Bashir Indabawa — north-west — executive commissioner, exploration and acreage management

(2) Kelechi Ofoegbu — south-east — executive commissioner, corporate services & administration (redeployed)

(3) Enorense Amadasu — south-south — executive commissioner, development & production

(4) Babajide Fasina — south-west — executive commissioner, economic regulation & strategic planning

According to the spokesperson, the president approved the reshuffling and replacement based on his informed assessment of all factors concerning the sector.

He added that the president approved the appointment to establish a regulatory framework and culture that discourages errant behaviour and promotes diligence and rule-based business practices across the industry.
