Tinubu seeks senate approval for key appointments in NERC, NPC, FCCPC, RMAFC

President Bola Tinubu has written to the senate seeking confirmation of management appointees for the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), National Population Commission (NPC), Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), and the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read Tinubu’s request, which was conveyed in separate letters to the red chamber during Tuesday’s plenary.

The president sought the confirmation of Abdullahi Ramat as chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the NERC.

Tinubu also nominated Abubakar Yusuf and Fouad Olayinka Animashaun as commissioners for consumer affairs and finance management services at NERC, respectively.

The president further sought the senate’s confirmation of Louis Odion, commissioner for operations from Edo state, and Ummueelm Isiyaku Rabiu, commissioner for corporate services from Kano state, for the FCCPC.

He also requested the confirmation of Agbaje Olukoye as chairman of the NPC, representing the south-west.

Other nominees for the commission include Hafiz Muhammad Kawu Ibrahim, commissioner (technical) representing the north-west; Samuel Chigozie Uwande, commissioner (inspectorate) representing the south-east; and Charles Efe Sylvester, commissioner (finance) representing the south-south.

Bello Abubakar Malabu was nominated as commissioner (administration) representing the north-east, while Omolola Bridget Oliworaran was named director-general representing the south-west.

Joseph Haruna Kigbu and Tonge Betara Bularafa were also nominated as commissioners of the NPC from Nasarawa and Yobe states, respectively.

The president additionally sought the confirmation of five commissioner nominees for RMAFC.

They include Bello Abubakar Wammako from Sokoto state, Hadizatu Uwani Mustapha from Borno, Marafa Bashir Abba from Taraba, Ahmed Waziri Hassan from Adamawa, Bob Helen Inafe from Bayelsa, and Gboyega Oladele from Osun.

In a separate letter, Tinubu asked the senate to confirm Obehi Aire Okafor as co-chairman of the governing council of the Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund.
