Tinubu to honour 210 ex-corps members for excellence, bravery

President Bola Tinubu will present national honours to 210 former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

In a statement by Emeka Rems Mgbemena, the board’s spokesperson, the recipients are corps members who served between 2020 and 2023.   

The ceremony, tagged ‘President’s NYSC Honours Award’, will be held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa on July 29.

Out of the 210 ex-corps members, 200 will be celebrated for excellence during their orientation course, primary assignment, community development service and winding -up/passing-out.

Other 10 members to be honoured under the NYSC Hope Alive Initiative are those suffered various degrees of permanent disabilities during their service years.

The hosts of the ceremony include Ayodele Olanwande, minister of youth development, Olakunle Nafiu, the director general of NYSC, and other management staff of the board.

“The awardees of two hundred (200) ex-corps members who excelled meritoriously in all the Four Cardinal Programmes of the NYSC, namely; Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service and Winding -Up/Passing-Out, in the course of service between 2020 to 2023 Service years,” the statement reads.

“Others that will also be honoured by the President under the NYSC Hope Alive Initiative are ten (10) Ex-Corps Members that suffered various degrees of permanent disabilities while serving their fatherland.

“The Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, the Director General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu and the entire NYSC Management heartily welcome the award beneficiaries and guests to the occasion.”
