The Diaspora Support for Asiwaju (DSA North America), a group of Nigerians supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC), says President Bola Tinubu will make Nigeria better.

Folasade Olumo, convener of the group and the deputy women leader of the United States APC chapter, spoke on Tuesday at a dinner and award night, in Abuja.

Olumo said the group comprises professionals, including medical practitioners such as doctors and nurses.

“We came together about a year ago to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential aspiration and we were able to establish structures to support the campaign in 26 states,” Olumo said.

“We all put our lives, resources, and time to support an Asiwaju presidency for a single purpose — a purpose that has motivated us and millions of Nigerians — which is to build a better Nigeria.”

At the dinner, the group honoured notable individuals who “contributed” to Tinubu’s success at the polls.

Those who were given awards included Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi; James Faleke, a member of the house of representatives; Asabe Bashir, director-general of the National Centre for Women Development; Betta Edu, APC national women leader; and Zainab Ibrahim, APC deputy national women leader.

Most of the awardees were represented.

A special royal award was also presented to the Oba Olushola Alao, olugbon of Orile-Igbon, while a posthumous award was given to Iyaloja Toyin Badmus, a grassroots mobiliser, who died shortly after the presidential election.

Mariam Onuoha, a speakership hopeful also attended the event.
