President Bola Tinubu has forwarded several executive communications to the senate, seeking confirmation of key appointments across federal agencies.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the letters during Wednesday’s plenary session.

Part of the president’s request includes the confirmation of nine nominees for executive positions at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The nominees are Idris Olorunnimbe as chairman, Aminu Maida as executive vice-chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), Abraham Oshidami as executive commissioner (technical services), and Rimini Makama as executive commissioner (stakeholder management).

Others are Maryam Bayi as commissioner for human capital and administration, Abdulwahab Lawal, Lekan Mustafa, Chris Okorie, and Oforitsenere Emiko as commissioners.

Akpabio referred the nominations to the senate committee on communications, with a two-week deadline to report back.

Tinubu also requested the confirmation of Idahagbon Williams Omoregie from Edo state (for a second term) and Ngbea Gabriel from Benue, as commissioners of the Federal Civil Service Commission.

The letter was referred to the senate committee on establishment, with a one-week timeline for its report.

In another correspondence, the president sought the confirmation of Musa Babayo as chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and Aminu Yusuf as chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC).

The nomination of Yusuf was referred to the senate committee on national population commission with a one-week deadline.

The president further nominated Adeniran Raymond Tella as resident electoral commissioner for Oyo state.

Akpabio directed the senate committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to work on the nomination and conclude its work within one week.

Tinubu also forwarded the name of Keji Onwu as an independent director on the board of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).

The nomination was referred to the senate committee on banking, insurance and other financial institutions, which is expected to report in one week.

On Tuesday, Tinubu wrote to the senate seeking confirmation of management appointees for the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund and the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
