Tinubu’s aide distributes rice to vulnerable groups in Ogun amid economic challenges

Kamorudeen Olawale Yusuf, personal assistant to President Bola Tinubu on special duties, has distributed over 10,000 bags of rice to vulnerable communities across Ogun state.

In a statement on Thursday, Yusuf described the gesture as a “token of love, solidarity, and shared struggle”.

He added that the large-scale distribution effort is part of a wider humanitarian outreach aimed at addressing food insecurity and economic hardship.

The operation, coordinated by the Ogun State City Boy Movement under the leadership of Sulaiman Abdul-Lateef Adegboyega, popularly known as ADLAT, was supported by several grassroots groups including Kamar’s Vanguard, KAMOSKY Loyalists, and the Asiwaju Support Groups.

The rice was delivered to targeted recipients across the state’s major zones, with a focus on widows, widowers, students, the less privileged, and other vulnerable groups.

“This is more than rice,” Yusuf said during one of the distribution events.

“It is a token of love, solidarity, and shared struggle. These are challenging times, and as leaders, formal or informal, we must rise to meet the needs of our people where it matters most.”

The recent effort is separate from a previous distribution of 5,000 bags of rice during the Eid-il-Kabir celebrations. On that occasion, Yusuf had extended festive support to Muslim communities in the state.

Adegboyega, who led coordination at the state level, hailed the initiative as both “symbolic and practical,” emphasising its significance amid Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms.

“Leadership is about empathy and presence,” he said. “This is not political; this is personal. Alhaji Yusuf has shown that he stands by his people not just in words, but in actions.”

The outreach covered several key local government areas including Abeokuta North and South, Ifo, Sagamu, Ado-Odo/Ota, Ijebu-Ode, and the Yewa axis. Volunteers and local coordinators ensured the process was transparent and fair.

One elderly widow in Ijebu North, upon receiving her allocation, expressed deep appreciation.

“I didn’t expect anything. When I got the rice, I felt remembered. May Allah bless those who remembered us,” the widow said.

Yusuf, widely regarded as a people-focused aide, has continued to use his platform to support grassroots communities, often extending assistance that goes beyond the scope of his official duties.

In a period marked by inflation and the ripple effects of economic transition, initiatives such as this are offering relief to citizens and serving as a model of responsive and humane leadership.
