Tinubu’s reforms driving economic recovery, says Obasa

Mudashiru Obasa

Mudashiru Obasa, speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly, says President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda has delivered concrete gains in two years through reforms in the economy, infrastructure, agriculture, and education.

Speaking on Thursday at the 10th constituency stakeholders’ meeting held at the Agege LGA secretariat, Obasa said Tinubu’s policies have “rejuvenated the economy, renewed the national spirit, and reinvented the Nigerian state”.

According to the speaker, the administration has “aggressively tackled economic stagnation and instability” by re-engineering fiscal policies and revenue mechanisms.

He said these steps have improved Nigeria’s credit rating, boosted investor confidence, and created the foundation for sustainable growth.

Obasa added that the federal government has launched major infrastructure projects, from new road networks to upgraded ports and public facilities, that are “enhancing quality of life and reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a hub for commerce and innovation”.

“Under the Renewed Hope agenda, the administration has aggressively tackled the challenges of economic stagnation and instability. Strategic economic reforms, including a re-engineering of fiscal policies and revenue-generating mechanisms, have boosted investor confidence and diversified our economy,” he said.

“These reforms have led to an improved credit rating and have laid a strong foundation for economic prosperity and sustainable development.”

On agriculture, he said significant investments in mechanised farming and modern practices are improving farmers’ access to financing, expanding markets, and moving Nigeria closer to food security.

He also pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund), which provides loans to students, as a “landmark reform” that has restored peace on campuses and improved infrastructure.

“The Renewed Hope agenda is not a slogan but a deliberate blueprint for national recovery. It is designed to lift millions out of poverty by unlocking opportunities for all Nigerians,” he said.

The speaker drew parallels with Lagos, where Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, has prioritised urban renewal, modern transport, and housing.
