The ministry of defence has handed over 20 newly acquired armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to the defence headquarters.

Ibrahim Kana, permanent secretary of the ministry, said on Thursday that the vehicles will enhance the professional capabilities of troops on the frontlines.

NAN reports that the APCs were handed to Christopher Musa, chief of defence staff (CDS).

In his remarks at the event, Kana said the step was geared towards bolstering the nation’s defence capabilities, in order to effectively address emerging security challenges.

“The acquisition of these armoured personnel carriers underscores our commitment to equipping our troops with the necessary resources to confront evolving security challenges,” Musa said.
