Brilliant three-pointers from Jordan Nwora, the newly-crowned NBA champion, and Obi Emegano intensified the resurgence.

A handful of errors by D’Tigers at free throws ensured the Boomers edged the second quarter 43-40.

The third quarter began with the Nigerians on the backpedal, but a series of brilliant defensive showings by Achiuwa limited the Australians.

Australia entered the final quarter with great intent, establishing their dominance on the match as they netted 26 points to earn an 84-65 victory over D’Tigers.

Nigeria will hope for better performance when they face Germany on Wednesday in the second group game.
