D’Tigers suffered another defeat in their second group B game at the Tokyo Olympics, losing 92 – 99 to Germany in the early hours of Wednesday.

The African champions threw away an 11-point lead from the third quarter to record their second consecutive defeat after a disappointing loss to Australia.

Germany started the game on a 22-12 run while Nigeria responded with a 15-2 burst to take a 27-24 lead early in the second quarter.

And then it was Nigeria’s turn to grab and cede control; a 16-5 run to open the second half put the D’Tigers up 11, but Niels Giffey’s 3-pointer rattled in as the third-quarter horn sounded and sent the teams in the final period tied at 74.

In the final quarter, Germany made a decisive run to outclass the Mike Brown’s boys 25-18 to edge closer towards qualifying for next weekend’s knockout stage.

Miye Oni and Jordan Nwora led the scoring chart for Nigeria with their three-pointers gathering 15 and 33 points respectively.

Nigeria will face Italy on Saturday while Germany will take on Australia.
