T.B Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), says he told President Goodluck Jonathan that the March 28 presidential election would not end up in his favour.

The controversial preacher said he also advised Jonathan to concede defeat, claiming that he gave a similar advice to Laurent Gbagbo in 2010 but the Ivory Coast president refused and it led to a bloodbath in his country.

Gbagbo was the president of Ivory Coast, who refused to concede defeat after losing the election to Alssane Ouattara, the incumbent president.

“Whatever the outcome of this election, his regime has come to an end,” Joshua claimed to have told Jonathan through an aide that the president sent to him after a phone conversation.

“Soft landing – that is the language I sent to the president and I told them that whatever the outcome of the election, our president should concede. It’s not a message I could say in the church because it would affect your vote.

“In a vision, I saw crisis and thousands of people being killed in Ivory Coast, just because of the outcome of the election. After sending the message across to the then Ivorian leader, a delegation of government figures and presidential aides was dispatched to Nigeria.

“President Gbagbo wanted a way out but I told him that nothing could be done.”

The prophet said by conceding defeat, Jonathan saved millions of lives, claiming that any attempt otherwise would have been disastrous.

“If Nigeria knows what we have overcome, we would dance,” he said during his sermon on Sunday.

“Nigerians wanted change and any attempt to stop change leads to war. I really want to salute President Jonathan. The president has served; he has done his best. It was just the season of crisis – and unfortunately he found himself at the lead in the season of crisis.”
