Abba Yusuf
Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano state, has refuted claims of financial misconduct made by Abdullahi Baffa Bichi against his administration.
The disclaimer followed recent statements reportedly attributed to Bichi, who accused the administration of misappropriating funds. He also alleged illicit payments to Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former state governor.
In December 2024, Yusuf dropped Bichi as secretary to the state government (SSG) in a major cabinet reshuffle, citing health concerns.
In a statement on Sunday by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson to the governor, Yusuf described Bichi’s claims as “baseless fabrications”.

Yusuf also refuted the claim that Kwankwaso, presidential candidate of the NNPP in 2023, receives N2 billion monthly from his administration.
He added that the allegation was “the height of political desperation and dishonesty”.
“All the allegations made by Bichi via social media, are baseless fabrications intended to mislead the public and tarnish reputations,” the statement reads.

“The claims are not only false but also laughable. Everything he said is total fallacy.
“Senator Kwankwaso is one of the purest and most selfless individuals in Kano. He has never demanded a penny from this administration, nor has he interfered with the government’s finances.
“You were in this government for more than a year, If you had any integrity, you would have spoken out while still in office. But you chose silence until you were sent parking. That exposes your real motive.”
The statement also said that the former SSG was dismissed due to “incapacitation, poor performance, and administrative negligence”.

The governor reiterated his commitment to transparency and good governance and asked residents to ignore “the noise of bitter politicians who have lost relevance”.
