Transcorp Hotels Plc has appointed Awele Elumelu as chair of its board, effective January 1, 2026.
The company announced the appointment in a statement on its website on Tuesday.
Transcorp Hotels is the hospitality subsidiary of Transnational Corporation (Transcorp) Plc.
Elumelu’s appointment follows the planned retirement of Emmanuel Nnorom as chair of the board, effective from January 1, 2026.

The company said the incoming chair brings extensive leadership experience spanning healthcare, insurance, corporate governance, and philanthropy.
Elumelu currently chairs Avon Healthcare Limited and Avon Medical Practice and also serves as chair of Heirs Insurance Brokers and a founding director of Heirs Holdings Limited.
She is a medical doctor with an MBBS from the University of Benin and has practiced clinically in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Her professional background also includes executive education from Harvard Business School, IMD Switzerland, and the London School of Economics.
Elumelu is also a trustee and co-founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which supports young African entrepreneurs through funding, training, and mentorship.
