Nigerian University Scholarships, a website that advertises academic opportunities, says it is in possession of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result of a “genius” from Kogi state who scored 399 marks out of a maximum obtainable 400.
The result, which TheCable cannot yet independently confirm, is fast gaining traction online.
According to electronic version of the result, the student, Ibrahim Shamwifu, scored 99/100 in Use of English, 100/100 in Physics, 100/100 in Biology and 100/100 in Chemistry.
His registration number reads 65184979HA and his examination number C40509045, while his examination centre is Air Max Computer Institute, St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madala, Niger state.
His ambition is to study Medicine and Suregry at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The UTME, organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is still ongoing in several centres across the country, but results have been quicker to obtain since the board switched to the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format in 2014.
Attempts by TheCable to verify Shamwifu’s results via the JAMB result portal was unsuccessful, as an automated response from the portal said the maximum possible number of checks had been exceeded in the case of the candidate.
Shamwifu’s feat seems improbable, but it may well get some credence in the “perfect” academic performance of Daniel Dada Ayodele, which became public earlier in the week during the convocation of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Ayodele made a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.00, which the Rahamon Bello, a professor and vice-chancellor of the university, could not help praising.
“This year, a record has been set. A graduating student in the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Mr Ayodele Daniel Dada is graduating with a CGPA of 5.00,” he said.
“A perfect score. This means he scored As in all courses he took in the programme. I congratulate the graduate with a First Class.”
