TRENDING VIDEO: ‘I mean, transmission transmission’ — IGP struggles to read speech

TRENDING VIDEO: ‘I mean, transmission transmission’ — IGP struggles to read speech

A video of Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police (IGP), struggling to read a speech is trending online.

In the video, Idris finds it difficult to pronounce the words, as he constantly repeats “I mean” and “transmission”.

There were traits of dyslexia, a learning difficulty, in his delivery.

What is Dyslexia?

  • According to a definition by NHS.co.uk, it  is a common learning difficulty that can cause problems with reading, writing and spelling. It’s a “specific learning difficulty”, which means it causes problems with certain abilities used for learning, such as reading and writing. Unlike a learning disability, intelligence isn’t affected.

Idris was said to have been caught in the “embarrassing” video tweeted by Voice of Liberty, on Monday, when he visited Kano to inaugurate the police technical intelligence unit in the state.

An analysis by TheCable editors suggests that part of the video was doctored, though that did not cover up for his mistake, just that it was repeated over and again.

“I mean, transmission, I mean effort, that the transmission cooperation to transmission, I mean transmission to have effect, ehm, apprehend, I mean, apprehensive towards the recommendation, recommended formation effective and effect, I mean, apprehensive at the transmission of…and transmission and transmission for the effective in the police command,” Idris said.

After several attempts to get his speech right, the IGP, struggling with his paper, apologised to his audience.

“Sorry, I’m sorry please,” he said.

However, Ibrahim’s struggle did not end there. A man in suit joins him to help hold down his script, and even helped with the pronunciation of the words. But this didn’t make the reading any better for the IGP.

“All effective the transmission, other transmission, I can state without contradiction that I have commissioned what?” he continued.

“Over transmission of, over transmission of, over all kidnapping, armed robbery and other heinous crimes, I mean, ehm, commission transmission, recommendation transmission.”

Anytime you see a fellow arrogantly abusive of the responsibilities vested on him/her, be rest assured that behind all the drama of throwing his weight around, he/she is actually trying to hide his blatantly obvious incompetence.

    What a pity?

Common we should not judge things just like that. Do not forget; He did not write the speech for goodness sake! What if the speech was altered? and with His busy schedule, attending to the Nation’s security issues, He trusted the hands of his speech writer. What if?

Apologise to who, and why the apology? Buhari here’s know nothing like apology. The only apology Nigerians want is his resignation for not able to handle the issue of terrorism perperruated by herdsmen.

Smh! Nigerians with their negativity. So, because he made incessant mistakes that makes him a disgrace and illiterate?

That wasn’t his first speech ever. I mean, he has been reading well until then. Maybe he was passing through some problems which might have affected him psychologically. Who knows? I bet thousands of you criticising him are nowhere close to him

Your comment: from my observation in that video, our police IG can really read very well, but the challenge their is what I may call tension, or phobia, pressure e.t.c
Nigerians should forgive him…for he did it unintentional!

This would be funny if it wasn’t so serious. This is one of the main reasons why Africa is in so much trouble. It’s not that we don’t have the right people; the tragedy is that people like IGP Idris are in charge. Oh dear God!! What a shame.
