The trial of Sule Lamido, the former governor of Jigawa state, and his two sons could not commence at the federal high court, Kano, on Wednesday as scheduled.
They reportedly missed their flight from Abuja, where they were being held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The EFCC could not arraign them, and its lawyers who were seen at the premises of the court suddenly left.
TheCable understands that the accused persons could still make it to Kano on Wednesday but the trial will now commence on Thursday.
The prosecutor, Simeon Akpah, confirmed that the inability of the anti-graft agency to arraign them was as result of flight problems.
Journalists noticed an unusual development around 9am as the EFCC lawyers suddenly began to pack their suitcases from the court room into the vehicle that brought them from Abuja.
The trio are to face trial over a 24-count charge relating to alleged mismanagement of over N1.3 billion and money laundering.
The former governor was alleged to have awarded contracts to some companies owned by his children.
