Dr Adadevoh, the pleasant doctor

“How are you?”

“How are you doing?”

“Hello!”

“Mummy, hope you are better now!”

That’s Dr.  Adadevoh for you, in her usual manner ─ pleasantly greeting the patients waiting to see her as she returned from the morning’s ward round. Despite how we were all feeling, including a very senior grandma, that morning in the waiting section, we couldn’t but reply in the affirmative.

She was a very dutiful and dedicated doctor who always wanted to reassure her patients without taking anything for granted. No wonder she insisted that Mr. Sawyer must not leave the hospital when he threatened the staff as reported by the social media.

Dr. Adadevoh , you were a kind hearted, beautiful (both inside and out) and energetic woman. The entire people of this great country recognise and appreciate your effort in preventing an epidemic. Your team of doctors and nurses will forever be remembered as patriotic Nigerians who risked their lives in order to prevent scores or hundreds of people from dying from the dreaded disease.

Her death is an irreparable loss to her family and the country especially the medical community. I commiserate with the family, friends and colleagues.

Dear Dr. Adadevoh, may your gentle soul rest in peace. Amen
