Troops of the Nigerian army have reportedly captured three high-ranking fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said 60 other suspected ISWAP terrorists were captured alongside the three commanders.

According to the publication, about 78 Boko Haram insurgents surrendered to troops of sector 3 Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) of operation Hadin Kai in Monguno LGA of Borno.

The terrorists were said to have surrendered to the troops due to the sustained raid on their hideouts.

The publication said Boko Haram terrorists had in the past seven days clashed with ISWAP fighters.

The clash led to the killing of over 100 terrorists from both groups.

An intelligence source reportedly told the publication that the Boko Haram Buduma factions overpowered the ISWAP, forcing them to flee to other enclaves in Kukawa, Madayi and Kwatan Mota.
