Troops ‘dislodge’ Boko Haram from Konduga
The Nigerian military says its men have dislodged Boko Haram militants from Konduga in Borno state.
This is the “second victory of the Nigerian military within the span of week,” after recapturing Bama, it said.
“At 5.30 am today, Boko Haram terrorists launched a massive attack on Konduga town, about 35 kilometres from Maiduguri. After about three hours of fierce fighting, Nigerian troops routed the Boko Haram fighting force of over a hundred terrorists,” Col Antigha of the Nigeria army public relations said.
“Further to the staggering loss of men, Boko Haram also suffered extensive losses in equipment. Specifically, three Hilux and one Buffalo vehicles with mounted anti-aircraft guns, three general purpose machine guns, over 30 AK 47 rifles and two global positioning systems have been recovered.
“Four Nigerian soldiers were wounded in action. The entire area is still being combed for terrorists who may have escaped with bullet wounds.”
Antigha further said that the morale of the troops remained high.
