Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed Amir Abu Fatima, a “notorious Boko Haram/ISWAP commander” who had a N100 million bounty placed on him.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of Friday, targeted the Kukawa axis of Borno state.
The operation was executed by the special forces troops of the 19 brigade of sector 3, Operation Hadin Kai.
Fatima was on the wanted list of security agencies due to his involvement in multiple high-profile attacks in the Lake Chad region

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, troops penetrated the terrorist enclave and engaged in a fierce firefight, resulting in the critical injury and subsequent capture of Fatima.
Fatima’s second-in-command, bomb-makers and several other fighters were reportedly killed during the operation.
The military recovered several AK-47 rifles, loaded magazines, IED-making materials, and other military-grade ordnance from the site.
