Troops of the Nigerian Army of operation Hadarin Daji have killed several bandits and rescued 35 abducted persons in Zamfara state.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-terrorism publication focusing on the Lake Chad region, reports that the feat followed the troops’ continued incursion into the camp of Yellow Jambros, a terrorist kingpin, in Dangurgu village under Maru LGA, in Zamfara.

Makama quoted intelligence sources as saying that the troops aggressively raided and successfully cleared some camps of terrorists in Dansadau, Maitukunya, Babban Doma and Dangurgu.

“In the process, they eliminated several terrorists and captured unconfirmed numbers of bandits alive,” Makama said.

The publication said those held captives by terrorists escaped to safety during an exchange of fire with the troops.

However, Jambros was reported to have escaped towards the axis of Sabon Garin Munhaye, where he is hiding in the camp of Dogo Gide.

In a recent development, troops killed eight fighters of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram terrorists during a raid of a “notorious enclave” in the Sambisa forest in Borno.

In a statement, Onyema Nwachukwu, army spokesperson, said troops conducted the operation on March 10.

Nwachukwu said the troops overpowered the terrorists during a gun battle, noting that many of the insurgents sustained gunshot wounds.
