The Kaduna government says troops have rescued six abducted persons in the state.

Samuel Aruwan, the state’s commissioner for internal security and home affairs, said the victims were rescued during a patrol around the Kangon Kadi general area in Chikun LGA.

The commissioner identified the victims to be Iliya Gide, Rabi Ali, Hussaina Gide, Naomi Nuhu and her baby and Pamela Barage.

Aruwan said the troops, under the operation Forest Sanity, recorded this feat during clearance conducted from Damba to Kangon Kadi.

He said the troops sighted and fired at identified bandit locations around the Kangon Kadi forest, Labi and the Udawa river.

The commissioner said the bandits fled from the Kangon Kadi area under the superior firepower of the troops, leaving behind six kidnapped victims at their camp.

He said Nasir El-Rufai,  governor of Kaduna, commended their troops for sustaining valiant efforts across several fronts.
