The Nigerian Army says its troops of 12 brigade have rescued six kidnapped persons in the Yagba east LGA of Kogi state.
In a statement on Tuesday, Hassan Abdullahi, spokesperson of the brigade, said the victims were rescued from Ejiba and Saminaka forests in Kogi.
Abdullahi said coordinated air and ground offensives, supported by a police helicopter, led to the interception and rescue of the victims, who were reportedly abandoned by their captors “due to sustained military pressure”.
He said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb the surge of banditry and abductions in the state.

“Five of the rescued individuals have been reunited with their families in Egbe and Ejiba communities, while the sixth is receiving medical attention,” the statement reads.
He added that troops would sustain operations to “dominate the forests and identified hideouts and deny criminals the freedom of action”.
There has been a surge in abductions across the country, including the kidnapping of a pastor, his wife, and several worshippers in Ejiba, Yagba west LGA of the state on Sunday.
