The recent flooding caused by torrential rainfall in some parts of Lagos state has generated conversations among Nigerians on various social media platforms.
Due to the city’s weather, the rains and subsequent floods visit residents annually.
Neighbourhoods like Victoria Island, Lekki, Ogba and Ikeja to mention a few experienced floods on Saturday due to non-stop showers on Friday and Saturday.
These floods have dominated the conversation on social media platforms especially Twitter with Nigerians sharing photos of some flooded areas in the state.
“I just hope the flood hasn’t relocated my office from Ikoyi to Ibeju-Lekki. Because this flood is geographically redesigning Lagos. Even Google map would be confused,” a Twitter user said.
“Lekki house rent will be so expensive yet your house is one heavy rain away from turning into an aquatic habitat,” another user said.
Here is what some Nigerians had to say:
I just hope the flood hasn't relocated my office from Ikoyi to Ibeju-Lekki.
Because this flood is geographically redesigning Lagos.
Even Google map would be confused.

I see its that time of the year again when the annual Lekki National Aquatic Sports Festival begins. Love and light to all the participants. May the force with you. May the games stay away from your abode.

Before you know it you'll see your friend's house in lekki next to yours on the mainland meanwhile you'll find both houses in lagoon and your house use to be located at mile 2
Now both houses are floating next to each other, thanks to Lagos as the rain pours

Even a blind man can see that @jidesanwoolu is clearly the wrong governor for Lagos.
Lagosians have lost houses & valuables and it’s about time the government put together emergency fundings to help people in Lekki.
Lekki is now like another city on its own.

Seeing a lot of tweets mocking Lekki/Island people all cos of flood.. sad. Very sad. We need a reorientation. Just cos u are in a safe area doesn’t give u rights to laugh at others ..

The way the rain fell last night I thought another ark has been built that I'm not aware. I can imagine how lekki people will be swimming and enjoying their good life 🤣🤣🤣@Gidi_Traffic
