‘You 8-2 see it’ — Twitter reactions to Bayern’s humiliation of Barcelona
Football lovers across the world have taken to social media to react after Lionel Messi and Barcelona were humiliated in the UEFA Champions League last eight.
Bayern, five-time UCL winners and favourites to win this year’s tournament, on Friday night, became the first team to score eight goals in the UCL knockout stages with a majestic display that consigned a defensively-atrocious Barcelona to their worst defeat since 1946.
Five of the 10 goals scored in the match were put into the back of the net in the first half of what seemed to be the Spanish giant’s heaviest defeat in the European competition.
The scoreline has since opened the floodgates of mixed reactions on social media platforms, especially Twitter, where users have been sharing memes and throwing jibes at the Camp Nou faithfuls.
Here’s what some users had to say:
You 8-2 see it. 😅 https://t.co/rwzTTk5KZL

This is the 3rd straight year Barcelona haven't put Messi on the field in the biggest game of the season. How do they explain this decision?

Good heavens. @FCBarcelona are an absolute shambles. 🤦🏻♂️

Bayern 8 – 2 Barcelona
AdvertisementThe Economy has totally collapsed
Goals were rising high like Dollar to Naira while Messi was aloof and "unaware" like one man we know
AdvertisementEvidently, Frank Lampard Jonathan and his Chelsea team managed this thing better.

Bayern's ruthlessness is so admirable. Even more beautiful is the precision that goes with it. You can tell this is a well thought through system they are deliberate about.
