Two ’10-year-old’ suicide bombers strike in Yobe

Two suicide bombers believed to be “about 10 years old” blew themselves up at a popular market in Potiskum, Yobe state on Sunday, killing at least three people.

The explosions went off around noon the open mobile phone market in the state capital.

Sani Abdu Potiskum, a trader at the market, told Reuters that he saw the dead bodies of the bombers.

“They are two young girls of about 10 years of age … you only see the plaited hair and part of the upper torso,” he said.

A source at the Potiskum general hospital said three people had been killed, excluding the bombers, while 46 were injured.

Just on Saturday, a 10-year-old female suicide bomber struck in neighbouring Maiduguri, Borno state, killing 20 people and injuring at least 18.

In November, a suicide bomber struck at Government Comprehensive Science College in the same town, killing at least 48 people.
