‘Two abducted’ as gunmen attack Zamfara community

Bandits have reportedly killed one Hashiru Nagogo and abducted his wife and neigbour during an attack on Bulunku village in Gusau area of Zamfara state.

Confirming the development to TheCable on Tuesday, Yazid Abubakar, police spokesperson in Zamfara, said the bandits shot Nagogo after he resisted abduction.

Abubakar said the attack occurred at about 1:50 am on Tuesday.

Commenting on the alleged attack on Muslim worshippers, Abubakar said there was no incident of bandits invading a mosque in the state.

“There was no attack on worshippers in Gusau. What really happened is that the bandits attacked a village called Bulunku on the outskirts of Gusau town,” he said.

“They attempted to kidnap one Hashiru Nagogo and when he resisted, they shot him dead.

“They later abducted his wife and his neighbour. The incident happened at 0150 hours on Tuesday. Efforts are ongoing to ensure the rescue of the victims but there was no attack on Muslim worshippers in the area.”

There were reports that several Muslim worshippers were abducted by bandits while performing night prayer at a mosque in Gusau town.

The reports said the incident occurred at about 2 am on Tuesday.
